Total cash inflows in Uzbekistan surge by 26% to 840 trillion UZS

According to the report, the gap between the cash inflows to banks and the demand for cash was covered by the Central Bank through the issuance of additional cash into circulation.

Specifically, the Central Bank issued an additional 10.3 trillion UZS in cash in 2024. As of January 1, 2025, the share of cash in the total money supply decreased by 2.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year, reaching 19.2%.

During 2024, the issuance of new cash (in updated denominations) led to an increase in the total number of banknotes by 152 million units.

Throughout the year, cash circulation was formed without significant structural changes in the sources of cash inflows to banks and the purposes of cash withdrawals from banks. However, this was accompanied by an increase in the nominal volume of cash.

This situation was attributed to a 17% rise in the amount of cash in circulation compared to the beginning of the previous year, driven by an increase in household incomes and purchasing power.

The report also noted that the total cash inflows (cash and terminal receipts) in 2024 amounted to 840 trillion UZS, marking a 26% increase compared to 2023.
