Car production in Uzbekistan rises by 6% in Q1, led by Cobalt and Onix

Car production in Uzbekistan saw a significant increase in the first quarter of 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

Between January and March, a total of 89,848 passenger cars were produced, marking an increase of more than 6% compared to the same period in 2024. One out of every three cars manufactured in the country was a Chevrolet Cobalt, with production rising by 13.58% to 32,200 units.

The Damas ranked second, with 22,400 vehicles produced, an increase of 17.97%. Meanwhile, negative trends persisted for Chery and Tracker models, with production falling by 33.24% and 12.57%, respectively — totaling 1,996 Chery vehicles and 10,513 Trackers.

Production of the Onix model reached 11,770 units, representing a substantial growth of 41.21%. Following a winter decline, Kia boosted its production by nearly a quarter, manufacturing 6,150 vehicles. Haval expanded its output more than eightfold, reaching 1,885 units. Additionally, the BYD plant in the Jizzakh region produced 2,913 electric vehicles.

According to Uzavtosanoat data, 75,353 cars were sold in the first quarter. UzAuto Motors increased its market share to 54.3%, followed by Khorezm Auto (28.2%), ADM Jizzakh (11.4%), and BYD Uzbekistan Factory (5.4%). The combined share of the other three manufacturers did not exceed 0.6%.

Among brands, Chevrolet remained the leader, selling over 62,260 vehicles (with nearly half being Cobalt models). Kia recorded sales of 5,431 units, while BYD sold 4,045 electric cars. Chery and Haval also entered the top five, selling 1,782 and 1,410 vehicles, respectively.

In terms of models, the top five spots were occupied by the Chevrolet Cobalt, Damas, Tracker, Labo, and Onix — collectively accounting for over 81% of all sales. The Kia Sonet dropped to sixth place, overtaken by the Onix. The top 10 was rounded out by three BYD models and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
