In the last three months alone, ticket prices for domestic flights in Uzbekistan surged by 74%, a figure highlighted by economist Otabek Bakirov based on the agency’s monthly inflation bulletins.

Official data shows the following month-on-month increases in airfare prices:

  • February: Domestic flights rose by 1.6 times; international flights by 1.9%.
  • March: Domestic flights increased by 3.9%; international by 4.8%.
  • April: Domestic flights rose by 4.9%; international by 5.3%.

As a result, over this period, domestic airfare prices grew by 74.4%, while prices for international routes, which face more market competition, rose by 12.45%.

According to the Statistics Committee, monthly inflation for April 2025 stood at 0.7%, while the annual inflation rate was 10.1%.

From January to April, the average monthly inflation rate was 0.7% – compared to 0.8% in 2023 and 0.6% in 2024.

In April, service prices increased by 1%, goods by 0.6%, and food items by 0.8%, with the sharpest price increases observed in meat and oil products.

Also in April, passenger transportation costs for car and railway rose by 1.3%. The price of methane fuel for vehicles increased by 2.6%, while gasoline fell by 0.4% and propane dropped by 8.7%.

A key contributor to April’s inflation was the information and communications sector, where prices rose by 1.4% for the month, 3.6% since the beginning of the year, and 6.6% over the past 12 months. This increase is mainly attributed to a 2.5% rise in mobile communication service tariffs.
