Energy resources valued at 3 billion UZS have been embezzled in Uzbekistan, according to a statement by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

As reported, working groups led by Deputy Prosecutor General Sh. Aminov are actively operating across the country to reduce losses in the transmission of natural gas and electricity, promote energy conservation, and prevent misuse and theft of energy resources.

On May 13, authorities identified 301 cases of energy loss and 481 incidents of theft, totaling 3 billion UZS in damages.

In response to these issues, significant technical work has been carried out: five gas distribution stations were replaced and 360 repaired; 1,841 households were transitioned to a two-stage system; 4,982 gas meter batteries were replaced; 2,900 gas meters were reconnected; 12 new transformers were installed; 238 kilometers of energy networks and 169 transformer stations were repaired; and 20 kilometers of high-load power lines were rewired.

Additionally, 11 individuals found to have committed violations have been subjected to administrative and disciplinary actions, and six criminal cases have been initiated. Investigations and corrective actions are ongoing.
