Italian PM Giorgia Meloni to visit Uzbekistan on May 28-29
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on May 28–29. The announcement was made via the official website of the Italian government. The meetings will take place in the city of Samarkand.

Previously, Meloni’s visit to Uzbekistan, initially scheduled for April 25–26, had been postponed due to the passing of the Pope, as noted in the official agenda.
She was originally set to visit Uzbekistan on April 25–26, and Kazakhstan on April 26–27. In addition to her official visits to the two countries, she was also expected to participate in the Italy–Central Asia summit.
In June 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Italy, where he held talks with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During that visit, Uzbekistan and Italy formally established a strategic partnership.
Later, in November 2023, the President of Italy paid a return visit to Uzbekistan.
