Uzbekistan welcomes Ukrainian children affected by war for recovery and rehabilitation

A group of Ukrainian children has arrived in Tashkent for a 12-day recreational and psychological rehabilitation program, organized with the support of the Uzbek government ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Embassy of Ukraine in Uzbekistan reported.

According to the embassy, the children come from various Ukrainian regions suffering from ongoing hostilities, including Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Kyiv.

The program is designed to provide the children with rest and psychological recovery, offering them relief from the daily stress of air raid sirens and missile strikes. This humanitarian initiative was arranged in response to a request from the Ukrainian Embassy and fully supported by the Uzbek side.

“The children and their chaperones were warmly welcomed at Tashkent International Airport, after which they traveled to a picturesque valley at the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains. The evening reception at the resort was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The itinerary is rich and meaningful, reflecting an unprecedented level of involvement by Uzbek government bodies. Nearly all relevant ministries and agencies are participating in the implementation of the program,” the embassy said in a statement.

Each day will feature themed events such as ‘National Values Day’ and ‘Sports and Health Day,’ as well as creative competitions and excursions. This comprehensive approach clearly demonstrates Uzbekistan’s deep commitment to supporting Ukrainian children during this difficult time.
