In his address at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about current developments on the global stage:

“Today’s world is undergoing immense trials. Threats to global security and sustainable development are increasing at an alarming pace.

“Geopolitical dynamics are changing rapidly before our eyes. The global arms race is once again intensifying. The military spending of major powers has risen by 1.5 times compared to 2010, reaching $2.5 trillion.

“The consequences of the economic crisis and shortages in financial resources have led to a three-year decline in global GDP growth rates.

“Regrettably, we are witnessing a weakening of international legal norms and the power of diplomacy. This is something we can all clearly see, feel, and understand – major global events are unfolding before us every day.

“What is most troubling is the declining global attention to the most pressing issues facing humanity – such as food security, poverty, and climate change.

“Now more than ever, it is crucial to restore universal trust in peace, justice, and human dignity. We believe that reestablishing this shared confidence through the principles of peace, justice, and human value is more important than ever.

“We are firmly convinced that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved solely through diplomatic means. We welcome the ongoing direct negotiations in Istanbul.

“At the same time, I want to draw your attention to the long-standing tragedy in Gaza. There is no justification for the deaths of countless innocent civilians in front of our eyes in the 21st century. The only just solution to this crisis is to resolve it based on the norms of international law and the resolutions that have already been adopted. The Palestinian people have the right to their own independent state.

“Another urgent item on the global agenda is supporting the peaceful and stable development of neighboring Afghanistan. We believe it is more important than ever to engage in constructive dialogue with the current government of this country on the international stage and to prevent its isolation.

“Indeed, stability and economic progress in Afghanistan are essential factors for the long-term development of all surrounding regions.

“On the issues I have just outlined, we call on all our partner countries to engage in open and broad international cooperation. Because we believe that investment – the central theme of this forum – is not only about economic development but also a guarantee of peace and stability.

“Let us work together to create an investment environment that not only generates profit but also upholds human dignity, secures vital interests, and serves as a solid foundation for societal progress,” the president stated.
