Humans to file countersuit against Octobank over contract violations

Humans has announced that it is preparing a countersuit against Octobank, citing the bank’s “consistent failure to fulfill contractual obligations.” This move comes after Octobank previously disconnected Humans’ services from its system and filed a lawsuit seeking to recover debts and claim compensation for damages.

A day prior, Octobank declared that it had suspended Humans' financial services, and as of June 13, services for Visa co-branded cards were discontinued. The bank is pursuing a claim to recover more than 500 billion UZS in debt and to cover damages allegedly caused by Humans.

In response, Humans stated that its own legal action is based on Octobank’s repeated violations of contractual duties.

“Hundreds of breaches have been recorded, including cases where customer inquiries from Humans Visa cardholders were either completely ignored or addressed with severe delays by the bank. These issues point to a fundamental failure in the bank’s core operational processes, ultimately harming the end users of Humans Visa cards,” the company said in a statement.

Humans emphasized that it had raised these concerns multiple times in the interest of its customers and had made efforts to resolve the situation. However, the bank continually failed to fulfill its obligations as an issuing bank.

The company also clarified that the decision to suspend services for Humans Visa cards was made unilaterally by the bank.

“All funds remain fully accessible in your account and can still be used, including for payment of Humans telecom services,” the statement reads.

Other services – such as mobile communication, balance top-ups, card-to-card transfers, and payments via the app – continue to function as usual without any restrictions.
