Senate approves OTS civil protection agreement for emergency cooperation
The Senate of Uzbekistan has ratified an agreement aimed at establishing a civil protection mechanism under the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The document envisions mutual assistance among member countries during emergencies, as well as the exchange of expertise in conducting rescue operations.

According to the press service of the upper chamber of Parliament, the agreement on creating a civil protection mechanism under the OTS was approved at a plenary session of the Senate.
The agreement was signed by Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye during the OTS meeting held on November 6, 2024, in Bishkek. It provides for cooperation in the event of natural disasters and emergencies. Assistance may be provided at the request of the affected member state.
The agreement also regulates the exchange of experience in organizing and managing search and rescue operations during emergencies.
Senators emphasized that ratifying the agreement would allow Uzbekistan to elevate international cooperation to a new level in the areas of emergency prevention, forecasting, monitoring, and analysis.
