Uzbekistan introduces new rules for residential registration
A new procedure for registering citizens and stateless persons at their place of residence has been established, according to the Ministry of Justice.
Under the new law titled "On the Registration of Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Foreign Citizens, and Stateless Persons at Their Place of Residence and Temporary Stay," individuals who provide housing – whether as owners or lawful custodians – are now required to ensure timely registration of residents at either their permanent or temporary address.
For individuals staying in accommodation facilities, registration must be carried out by responsible staff via the “E-mehmon” (E-Guest) system in accordance with the notification procedure.
Additionally, Uzbek citizens who reside abroad on a permanent basis must register their residence or temporary stay within 10 working days after entering Uzbekistan.
The registration of Uzbek citizens at their place of residence can be completed through the following channels:
- Migration and Citizenship Registration Departments of the Internal Affairs bodies;
- Public Service Centers;
- The Unified Portal of Interactive State Services at my.gov.uz.
When registering individuals at their residence or place of stay, compliance with the legally established social housing norms is mandatory.
