Uzbekistan and Japan strengthen legal ties through high-level dialogue
On May 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held a meeting with Japan’s Minister of Justice, Keisuke Suzuki, who is currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan.

In a statement posted on his official Telegram channel, Saidov described the talks as a step toward deepening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan.
“We held a productive meeting with H.E. Keisuke Suzuki, Minister of Justice of Japan, aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between our two countries,” Saidov wrote. “We discussed a range of regional and global issues, as well as key areas of bilateral cooperation. This included legal reforms, modernization of the judiciary, exchange of best practices in governance and the rule of law.”
The ministers also explored new opportunities for institutional cooperation between their respective justice systems, which could support the implementation of reform agendas in both countries.
